Green Bay
St. Vincent Hospital received a Community Clinical Oncology Program grant for nearly $650,000, the largest award ever given to the hospital through the oncology program.

The National Cancer Institute notified St. Vincent of the award on Oct. 27.
The funds will be used to defray the costs of managing National Cancer Institute-sponsored clinical oncology trials and obtaining data.
For more than 140 clinical trials this year, St. Vincent hired eight full-time clinical research associates.
The award will help fund more than 140 trials through May 31.
Patients across Northeastern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan will have access to those trials of innovative cancer treatments through a close relationship between St. Vincent and physicians at Green Bay Oncology.
The Community Clinical Oncology Program grants are awarded to about 60 hospitals across the country. St. Vincent was the only hospital in Northeastern Wisconsin — and one of two in the state — to receive a grant.

Wrightstown
The Village Board accepted the donation of $3,000 from the Wrightstown Lions Club to help pay for a new portable ice skating rink. The village would have to pay $700 to complete the purchase.
Village trustees are looking at several sites: a grassy area owned by St. Paul Catholic Church and School and adjacent to the parish parking lot, Waupekun Village Park and the property owned by the late Dennis Zirbel.
Trustees noted that the St. Paul site has lights that allow for evening skating. Neither the Zirbel property nor Waupekun Park has lights. The St. Paul site also has off-street parking.
