Highlights from Mike McCarthy’s final pre-Super Bowl press conference Friday morning:
-- I would be shocked if Donald Driver does not play on Sunday. He would practice today if I would let him. Do not want to take any chances. I will hold Donald out of practice today. This is clearly just being safe with him.
-- Number of things I liked about Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers when I was offensive coordinator in San Francisco. To consider Rodgers as No. 1 overall pick speaks to his ability. He’s always had physical ability, mental capacity. He’s improved. We are here today because Aaron Rodgers is in Green Bay.
-- Practice has gone well. Quality of work has been excellent. We will meet at Omni until 10:30, get on buses at 11, will take team photo, then practice. Players will be free for rest of day. Saturday schedule will be same as what we have operated on for the past 5 years. Chapel at 8 p.m. and team meeting at 9 p.m.
-- Cullen Jenkins: Anytime you’re dealing with personal situation with such a hyped week it can be draining. Cullen Jenkins is relieved by the fact there’s been communication.
-- Any coach is aware of Vince Lombardi’s presence. Excellence, work ethic, discipline, he brought all that to forefront. We take pride and focus in bringing trophy back home where it belongs. He’s made big impact on development of NFL.
