Tom O'Malley, a quarterback who threw six interceptions - still the team record - in the only game he ever played for the Green Bay Packers, died Saturday in York, Pa. He was 85.

When Gene Ronzani took over as the Packers' coach in 1950, he went into the season with two rookie quarterbacks, second-round draft pick Tobin Rote and O'Malley, a 25-year-old free agent who starred at the University of Cincinnati in the late 1940s.

O'Malley was pressed into action after Rote injured a shoulder during the second quarter of the season opener against the Detroit Lions at old City Stadium on Sept. 17, 1950. ...
