49ers sign former Packers receiver Swain

† Former Packers wide receiver Brett Swain is gainfully employed again. The San Jose Mercury News reports that the San Francisco 49ers signed Swain to take the roster spot of Joshua Morgan, who suffered a fracture in his lower right leg on Sunday. Swain worked out for the 49ers Tuesday along with unsigned veterans T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chris Chambers and Brian Finneran. Swain was drafted by the Packers in the seventh round in 2008 and played primarily on special teams while also serving as the teamís No. 5 receiver last season. Swain made three special teams tackles in the Packersí Super Bowl victory in February. He was cut early in training camp this year. The Mercury News reports that Swain agreed to a one-year contract, according to Irvine-based Rep 1 Sports Group.
