McCarthy: I think it's a bunch of garbage

Packers coach Mike McCarthy was as agitated with the media as he's been at any time this season during his post-practice session Wednesday. He was asked how receiver Donald Driver has responded to fewer snaps in 2011 and if the two have had any discussion about the topic. "As far as our offensive perimeter guys here, and whether itís Donald, whether itís any of those guys, whether their snaps are down or their opportunities arenít what they were the week before or they didnít catch as many touchdowns as the week before, every week I come in here and thereís an individual in the offensive perimeter that we have to, that we feel, that you feel that I have to address." "We have one football, thereís 11 guys that play on each play, five perimeter guys at a time. Iím not going to apologize for having too many guys to throw the ball to." "The quarterback is doing an excellent job of throwing the football to the open guy. So whether the snaps come in at 20, 30 or 40, thatís just the way the game goes. Whether the opportunities come in at 2, 4 or 9, thatís the way the game goes. And thatís the reality of it. "Donaldís very proud, heís been a great player, (will) continue to be a great player here, but we have a lot of people, and weíre using them all. Thatís the reality of it." "Every week itís somebody else that weíre going to pick at because he didnít have the numbers he had the week before. Frankly, I think itís a bunch of garbage." McCarthy was then asked if that speech is given to the players, or just† explained to the media? "Thatís the opening speech, yeah. Itís what it is." "Now, do they want the ball? Yeah. Yeah, they want the ball. They all want the ball. And if they donít want the ball, then I have a real issue with them." "Thatís part of playing in this league. But every week to come in here and a guy scores three touchdowns one week and he doesnít have any the next week, and thatís an issue? I mean, what are we doing here? "Those are good, positive things about your team. And Iím not going to continue to sit here and answer this thing every week. Like I said, I think itís a bunch of garbage." Here's a quick breakdown of the receiving stats: RECEPTIONS Greg Jennings 29, Jermichael Finley 22, Jordy Nelson 18, James Jones 14, James Starks 13, Randall Cobb 9, Driver 9 TARGETED Jennings 46, Finley 31, Nelson 30, Jones 22, Driver 17, Cobb 12 YARDS Jennings 448, Nelson 309, Finley 301, Jones 228, Cobb 174, Starks 96, Driver 76.
