Capers: This is going to be one of the best offenses we play all year

Every time we talk to Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers, I feel like I learn something. It's not hard to see why Capers has had tremendous success during his career - he has a wealth of knowledge and can convey that to others in an understandable manner. Capers talked about Norv Turner today and the evolution of the Chargers offense... "Norv Turner, I go back to our college days when he was at SC (Southern California) and I was at University of California. He was the receivers coach for the Rams the whole time I was the secondary coach for the Saints. During that time Ernie Zampese came up from San Diego and brought that (Don) Coryell passing game and Norv kind of has taken that and perfected that. He went to Dallas and had great success at Dallas and, of course, has had three head coaching jobs." "That basis of that offense goes all the way back to San Diego and Norv started even with the Rams when Ernie came to the Rams. Ernie was with Coryell down in San Diego then they hired Ernie as the offensive coordinator, John Robinson did with the Rams and Norv was the receivers coach. Norv had been with John at SC." "He’s got a great understanding of what he wants to do with his offense and they give you a lot of movement. There’s going to be shifting and motion. They’re not going to line up in what they end in. Got very good talent on offense." "(Philip) Rivers, even though he’s had some struggles of here late, he’s been one of the most efficient quarterbacks the last few years. They’ve got some physical running backs. Expecting (Mike) Tolbert to be back. Of course (Ryan) Mathews is a first round pick. They utilize their tight ends a lot. Obviously, (Antonio) Gates has been a difference maker for quite a while. (Randy) McMichael, they use him in a lot of different ways." "They’ve got big receivers. (Vincent) Jackson kind of looks like a tight end  out there when you look at him physically. (Malcolm) Floyd is a big tall guy. So, they’ve got a lot of weapons. They’ve moved the ball on everybody. I think they’re sixth or something like that in total offense. The areas they’ve had a problem with is turning the ball over and the red area." "This is going to be one of the best offenses we play all year."
