Defensive end Mike Neal took part in his first padded practice since undergoing knee surgery nearly two months ago but still doesn't appear close to returning. Neal looked extremely limited during the portion of practice open the media and after one rep he looked to be moving slowly and perhaps even with a slight limp. It was never expected that Neal would be available for Monday's game against Minnesota, but it's unclear when he might be cleared to play. The only players who missed practice completely were linebacker Frank Zombo (hamstring) and left tackle Chad Clifton (hamstring). Linebacker Clay Matthews was in pads and practicing. The Packers have one more practice tomorrow before Monday night's game. We'll have an injury update from coach Mike McCarthy in about an hour. UPDATE (1:30 p.m.): Here's the full practice report: Morgan Burnett, S Hand Full Participation Chad Clifton, T Hamstring Out Clay Matthews, LB Knee Limited Participation Mike Neal, DE Knee Limited Participation Josh Sitton, G Knee Limited Participation Frank Zombo, LB Hamstring Out Because today is technically a Thursday practice with the Monday night game, the team won't issue status reports -- probable, questionable, doubtful -- until tomorrow. McCarthy on: * Had a good birthday yesterday at home with my family and was made fun of all day at work. * Mike Neal went through all the individual, had a chance to watch him early, looks to be progressing, biggest evaluation is how he feels the next day. * Chance of playing this week: I think you have to really increase his activity at practice to get to the point where he's ready for a game. Hasn't participated in team drills yet. We're going one hurdle at a time.
