Report: Tulane interested in Philbin as coach

Nov. 6, 2013

Tulane reportedly is interested in hiring Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin as its new head coach, according to a report on ESPN, as relayed via ProFootballTalk.com. As the report notes, Philbin might prefer waiting for a chance to advance in the NFL rather than be a head coach in college. But he has an extensive background in college coaching as an assistant from 1984-2002. Philbin's tie to Tulane was a graduate assistant coach in 1984 and '85.
