Philbin says he hasn't been contacted by Tulane

Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin said he has not been contacted by the University of Tulane about its head coaching job. An ESPN report on Monday said Tulane has an interest in Philbin, who was a graduate assistant there in the mid 1980s. “I haven’t talked to anybody there,” said Philbin this afternoon. “My comment is, I’m an assistant coach of the Green Bay Packers and to speak anything more about my personal future I don’t think is appropriate, so that’s all I have to say.” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he "really didn't know anything" about Tulane's reported interest in Philbin. "Joe Philbin is as fine a football coach as I’ve been around," said McCarthy. "He does a great job with our players. I really enjoy our relationship. Joe would be definitely deserving of any opportunity that comes down his road." So even if Tulane hasn't contacted him, would Philbin have an intererest in the job? He didn't specifically address that, but instead said he was happy in Green Bay. "All I could tell you is I’ve got a great job here as the offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers," Philbin said. "I would think that thousands of guys would trade places with me. And anything more than that I don’t have anything to say other than there’s no substance to it. I've got a great job where I’m at, love what I’m doing. To comment, when you’re an assistant coach I think your job is to help your players reach their full potential. We’ve got a group of guys that have worked extremely hard. They’re doing some good things, and I’m looking forward to seeing this thing through."
