For the first time in more than a year, Green Bay Packers defensive end Mike Neal will be active for a game.
Neal will be on the active roster today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field for the first time since Oct. 10 last season at Washington.
Neal has been recovering from a knee injury sustained in training camp. He missed all but two games last season.
The Packers are hoping Neal can provide some inside pass-rushing push that has been lacking since Cullen Jenkins departed.
Based on past history, itís likely the Packers will bring Neal along slowly and not give him a lot of snaps today. The Packers have all six of their defensive linemen active today.
To make room for Neal, the Packers placed tight end D.J. Williams on the inactive list today.
The rest of the Packers' inactive list: linebackers Robert Francois, Jamari Lattimore and Frank Zombo; offensive linemen Chad Clifton and Ray Dominguez, and cornerback Davon House.
The Buccaneers' inactive players are safety Tanard Jackson, cornerback Anthony Gaitor, linebacker Dekoda Watson, tackles Demar Dotson and Derek Hardman, wide receiver Michael Spurlock and defensive tackle Frank Okam.
Corey Lynch will start at free safety for Jackson.
