Following is a scouting report of the 7-3 Detroit Lions, based on interviews with NFL coaches and scouts:

Run offense:

Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan no doubt misses second-year halfback Jahvid Best, who has sat out the last four games because of his second concussion in the last three months and appears unlikely to return this week. Best isn't durable enough to be an every-down back but is an explosive-play threat as a runner and catching swing passes. Defenses have to account for him.
