Friday practice report: Bishop, Hawk ruled out (updated)

Nov. 6, 2013

Today was supposed to be the day injured starting inside linebackers Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk saw the team doctors again. If that indeed was the case this morning, they must not have gotten good news about their calf injuries because neither returned to practice. That doesn't necessarily mean they won't play Sunday at the New York Giants, but neither practiced at all this week. Both were injured in last Thursday's Thanksgiving game at Detroit. There was one new injury today: tight end Andrew Quarless was not participating. He hasn't been listed on the injury report. Earlier this season, Quarless missed the Atlanta and St. Louis games because of a knee injury, but it's not known if this is related. We'll have the full injury report and an update from coach Mike McCarthy at about 12:30 p.m. UPDATE (12:30 p.m.): Here's the injury report: Bishop and Hawk have been ruled OUT. Andrew Quarless, TE Groin Did Not Participate Probable Desmond Bishop, LB Calf Did Not Participate Out Chad Clifton, T Hamstring/Back Out A.J. Hawk, LB Calf Did Not Participate Out Josh Sitton, G Knee Out James Starks, RB Knee/Ankle Full Participation Probable McCarthy on: * Bishop and Hawk: Doctors decision, just didnt feel likethey'd be ready to play on Sunday. They'll be evaluated again on Monday. * Who wears the headset: Top secret, just kidding. DJ Smith and then potentially Charles or Morgan, all three worked with that this week. It's different if you've never done it, to have the voice in your helmet and the volume. It's a lot louder than people think. * Quarless: Strained his groin, we were just being safe. Expect him to play in the game. * NYG coordinator Perry Fewell going after Rodgers: He's obviously trying to get something done with his football team. * EDS will start, but both Evan and Derek are ready to go.
