Packers, Giants could meet in playoffs

The Packers have all but sewed up the No. 1 seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. All they need is one victory or tie in their final three games, or one loss or tie by the San Francisco 49ers in their final three games. But how is the rest of the NFC race taking shape? It’s very possible the Saints could overtake the 49ers and grab the No. 2 seed, which offers a first-round playoff bye. The 49ers and Saints are both 10-3 but San Francisco holds the tiebreaker edge based on a better conference record. However, if the 49ers lose this week to Pittsburgh, that would open the door for the Saints to assume control of the No. 2 seed. Barring an upset in the wild-card round of the playoffs, it seems likely the Saints and 49ers will meet in one of the NFC divisional playoff games on Jan. 14 or 15. The only question is where it will be held, with the home team obviously holding a major advantage. So which team would most likely face the Packers in the divisional round at Lambeau Field on either Jan. 14 or 15? It could be either the Giants, Cowboys, Falcons, Lions or Bears, depending on how the NFC race unfolds and which teams  win in the wild-card playoff round. Listed below are the current NFC playoffs seedings and schedules. I have also included my predictions for each remaining game and each team’s final record, which are underlined. If my predictions hold true, the Packers will have a rematch with the Giants in an NFC divisional playoff game. As everyone knows, the Packers needed a last-second field goal to turn back the Giants 38-35 in the regular season. And of course the Giants came to Lambeau in 2007 as a heavy underdog and knocked off the Packers in the NFC title game. MY WILD-CARD ROUND FORECAST No. 1 Packers bye   No. 2 Saints bye No. 3 49ers will beat No. 6 Lions No. 4 Giants will beat No. 5 Falcons DIVISIONAL ROUND FORECAST No. 2 Saints over No. 3 49ers No. 1 Packers over No. 4 Giants NFC TITLE GAME FORECAST No. 1 Packers over No. 2 Saints NFC playoff seeds, schedules 1.PACKERS 13-0 (My prediction: 16-0) At Chiefs (5-8)  Win Bears (7-6) Win Lions (8-5) Win  2. 49ERS 10-3 (12-4) Steelers (10-3) Lose At Seahawks (5-7) Win  At Rams (2-10) Win  3.
