Last season, Ted Thompson extended cornerback Tramon Williams' contract in late November, and linebacker Desmond Bishop's and long-snapper Brett Goode's contracts on Jan. 1.

The Green Bay Packers' General Manager similarly did a deal in December 2009 with former outside linebacker Brandon Chillar.

But it's not at all a given that Thompson and his contract negotiator, team vice president Russ Ball, will do any late-season, salary-cap friendly deals in 2011. ...
