Wednesday practice report: Wells out, others return

Nov. 6, 2013

There were two surprises at Packers practice today: Center Scott Wells and linebacker D.J. Smith weren't practicing. Wells was present, but Smith was not seen. Neither was on the injury report coach Mike McCarthy shared on Monday. Several key players returned: Receiver Randall Cobb (groin), right tackle Bryan Bulaga (kneecap) and receiver Greg Jennings (knee). As expected running back James Starks (knee/ankle) was rehabbing off to the side. He appeared to be running hard. It looks like the coaches are going to give Brad Jones every chance to be their starting right outside linebacker when the playoffs begin. He had a prominent role in practice. McCarthy is scheduled to talk within the hour.
