Based on coach Mike McCarthy's comments at his season-ending news conference Wednesday, there's a good chance the Packers will make a hard push to re-sign center Scott Wells before the start of free agency in March.
Wells, who turned 30 earlier this month, will be an unrestricted free agent when the new league year starts in early March. Though General Manager Ted Thompson generally is averse to making substantial investments in players near or past age 30, Wells is coming off his best season and will play in his first Pro Bowl next week.
