Packers General Manager Ted Thompson is scouting East-West Shrine Game practices in St. Petersburg, Fla. The local FOX affiliate caught up with Thompson, who was asked about potential Packers assistants vying for other jobs, including with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No surprisingly, Thompson didn't reveal much. On Joe Philbin and Tom Clements being considered for the Bucs' head coaching job: "They are both good men, good football people and we are glad to have them." On Joe Philbin: "He's very intelligent, he knows what's going on with every position. He has a great background in the offensive line and understands the running game. Very good with players and is good in front of the players, all those things are positive." On Tom Clements: "Obviously being the quarterback coach there, he is a little more involved in the passing game than the other stuff. He's been around the game a long time (NFL, 19 years). He was very accomplished as a player and also as a coach. He's well respected by our team and certainly well respected by our quarterbacks." Are you keeping up with their interviews? "We don't touch base everyday, but if something happens I'll know about it." Do you expect to know something this week? "I don't know. This game is very unpredictable. You just kind of sit back and let it happen."
