Packers sign AFL QB Nick Hill

The Green Bay Packers' newest backup quarterback is trying to make the jump from the Arena Football League to an NFL 53-man roster.

Nick Hill, who finished his college career at Southern Illinois in 2007, played the last two seasons with the Orlando Predators of the AFL and had signed with the Tampa Bay Storm for the upcoming season that begins in March before the Packers signed him to a three-year contract Friday.

Hill (6-3, 215) had an NFL tryout with the Chicago Bears after going undrafted in 2008 but was beaten out by Caleb Hanie for the chance to go to training camp, according to the Chicago ...
