QB coach Tom Clements named new Packers offensive coordinator

Mike McCarthy retained a key member of his offensive coaching staff by making official what most of the NFL considered a given: He promoted Tom Clements to offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers.

The move fills the position vacated last month when Joe Philbin went to the Miami Dolphins as their new head coach. Clements had been the Packers' respected quarterbacks coach the last six seasons and already had experience in the NFL as an offensive coordinator, with the Buffalo Bills in 2004-05.

The move creates a vacancy at another key position on McCarthy's staff, quarterbacks coach. ...
