The Packers formally announced the promotion of Ben McAdoo to quarterbacks coach from his previous position as tight ends coach. News broke about the move last week. The team also announced former running backs coach Jerry Fontenot will replace McAdoo and coach the tight ends. This will be his seventh year on the staff. Fontenot has gone from offensive assistant (2006) to assistant offensive line coach (2007-10) to running backs coach (2011) to tight ends (2012). Alex Van Pelt has been hired to coach the running backs, making him the third coach for the group in three years. Van Pelt coached the quarterbacks in Tampa Bay the last two years and has seven years of NFL  experience. He was the Bills' offensive coordinator in 2009. John Rushing will serve as offensive assistant/special teams after holding the title of assistant wide receivers/special teams in 2011. He has been on the Packers staff since 2009. Joel Hilgenberg has been promoted from offensive quality control coach to assistant offensive line coach. Last season was his first as an NFL coach. The staff rearrangement all started when offensive coordinator Joe Philbin was hired to the top job in Miami.
