NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell named Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy to the NFL Competition Committee on Tuesday. Murphy becomes the first Packers representative to serve on the Competition Committee since former head coach Mike Holmgren, who served from 1995-’99. “It will be a new experience for me, and I am looking forward to representing the Packers in this capacity on a league level,” said Murphy in a prepared statement. Besides Murphy, Goodell added head coaches Jeff Fisher of the St. Louis Rams and Ken Whisenhunt of the Arizona Cardinals to the Competition Committee, which studies all aspects of the game and recommends rules and policy changes. Other committee members include chair Rich McKay of the Atlanta Falcons, Stephen Jones of the Dallas Cowboys, Marvin Lewis of the Cincinnati Bengals, John Mara of the New York Giants, Ozzie Newsome of the Baltimore Ravens and Rick Smith of the Houston Texans.
