SC DE/OLB Melvin Ingram holds Combine media session

INDIANAPOLIS – South Carolina DE/OLB Melvin Ingram held his media session at the NFL Combine on Saturday. He is considered one of the top pass rushers on the board and one of the better athletes. At 6-foot-1, 264 pounds, Ingram can do a standing backflip and used to play point guard in high school. Before SC, he played on both sides of the ball, including quarterback, receiver and running back. He has played linebacker in college, but finished his career as a defensive end. Ingram said he’s been working linebacker drills with Broncos rookie of the year Von Miller. He’s lost 12 pounds since the Senior Bowl to fit the outside linebacker mold. “I try to pattern myself after him because I feel like he’s had a lot of success in the NFL,” Ingram said. Ingram said he’s comfortable at outside linebacker and “it’s like second nature.” When asked what sets him apart? “Athletic ability, my relentless ability to get around the ball,” Ingram said. Ingram met with a long list of NFL teams Friday night. He thinks he met with the Packers, who would obviously have interest if he can be had. Though many mock drafts have him as a Top 10 pick.
