Jenkins: I'm done with (marijuana) forever

INDIANAPOLIS - North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkins said he’s done with marijuana forever. He was kicked off the University of Florida football team after three seasons and three arrests, including two for marijuana possession. The other was a bar fight. Jenkins said he only failed one drug test at Florida. “Eliminate myself from some of those guys I used to hang with,” said Jenkins, who has four children. “I think about my mom all the time and my kids. In order for me to be successful and them to have a great life or a nice life I’ve got to put it behind me.” Jenkins measured at 5-10, 193 pound and is widely considered one of the top three cornerbacks in the draft. That’s a position the Packers could have interest in. Jenkins was up front and honest in both team and media interviews. He said he appreciates the second chance and learned his lesson in going from a star Gator to North Alabama and its 7,100 student population. “It made me a stronger person, taught me how to fight through reality,” Jenkins said. “To be successful at the next level I can’t do the things I used to do. “It made me appreciate a lot. Coming from Florida, getting three or four pairs of cleats a week, gloves, going to North Alabama and getting one pair of cleats. Playing in front of 3,500 people. Being in the Swamp and playing in front of 95,000 is a big difference. Learning experience.”
