Mock Draft: Packers select USC DE Nick Perry at No. 28

The Packers will select Southern California defensive end Nick Perry at No. 28 of the NFL Draft, according to NFL Network reporter Albert Breer's latest mock draft. Perry showed plenty of athleticism at the NFL Combine and has been thought to be Green Bay possibility. He was the third fastest defensive lineman in the 40-yard dash (4.64 seconds), No. 1 in the vertical jump (38.5 inches) and tied for No. 1 in the broad jump (10-4). Perry said he would rather play DE than OLB in the NFL. His 6-foot-3, 271-pound frame lends itself to a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 OLB. The Packers are a 3-4 team. "It's just that edge," Perry said at the Combine last week. "Some people have a better edge getting off the ball with their hand in the dirt. Iíve been playing it a long time now, and I have experience in that. Being put further away from what youíre used to doing makes you a little uneasy." Breer wrote about Perry: "The end of last year showed why Clay Matthews needs a counterpart up front who can make offenses pay for over-committing to him."
