Packers exploring an OLB

Nov. 6, 2013

Though their interest appears to be preliminary, the Packers have reached out to free-agent outside linebacker Manny Lawson, who played last season for the Cincinnati Bengals after five years with the San Francisco 49ers. An NFL source said the two sides have "had discussions," but Lawson has not met with or visited the Packers. The Packers are seeking pass rush help from the outside linebacker position opposite  Clay Matthews. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Lawson, 27, had a career-best 6 1/2 sacks while starting all 16 games for the 49ers in 2009.
