Report: Packers add a center (Updated, 1:20 p.m.)

The Green Bay Packers appear to have found a veteran replacement for center Scott Wells. According to ESPN.com, they have signed long-time Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday. The 36-year-old Saturday visited the Packers on Monday, according to a team source. He also visited the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos, where he could have been reunited with his former quarterback, Peyton Manning. Wells signed with the St. Louis Rams in free agency, leaving a void in the middle of the offensive line. Terms of Saturday's deal were not immediately available. UPDATE (1:20 p.m.): A source said that Saturday was looking for more than a one-year deal, and then Saturday's agent, Ralph Cindrich, confirmed the signing via his Twitter account and said it was a two-year deal. Financial terms were not available, but it's likely the contract was structured in a way that would allow the Packers to move on after one season if they wanted. A source who evaluated film of all the centers and guards in free agency said he rated Saturday second behind only Wells. Saturday, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, entered the NFL with the Colts as a street free agent in 1999 and won the starting job a year later. He was the Colts starter through last season. Saturday was considered a strong leader on the field and in the locker room. He was the Colts player representative with the NFL Players Association and then served in a leadership role on the NFLPA executive committee during the 2011 lockout.
