Hargrove's strategy for suspension appeal: Goodell has no authority in the case

On the same day Anthony Hargrove appealed his eight-game suspension for his role in the New Orleans Saints' bounty program, his signed declaration that the NFL said established the existence of the program but that Hargrove knew about it and participated in it was leaked.

The declaration, obtained Monday by Yahoo! Sports, reveals more about how the Saints - specifically defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and assistant coach Joe Vitt - tried to persuade Hargrove to deny any knowledge of the bounty program when investigators first came calling in 2010.
