If you've seen Tweets this morning from some of the Packers' rookies, you know they're leaving their hometowns today and headed toward Green Bay. Players report today for the three-day rookie orientation camp that begins tomorrow. By the time the players hit the practice field, they all could be under contract. Though little progress was made yesterday on the rookie contracts because Packers vice president of player finance Russ Ball was taking part in the team's annual day-long, all-staff meeting, it's still likely that all the draft picks could be signed before tomorrow's first practice at 11:30 a.m. As of now, however, the only contract done is fourth-round pick Jerron McMillian. The safety from Maine agreed to terms late Tuesday night. Agents for several of the draft picks said last night and this morning that the deals could be wrapped up soon. It's not necessary for the rookies to be under contract to participate in the camp. If the deals aren't done, the players will sign injury protection forms that would guarantee they would still get their regular contract even if they got hurt during this camp.
