Hill, holdovers ahead of rookies in camp

The Packers have seven players who were with them in some capacity last season taking part in this weekend's rookie orientation camp. Players eligible for the camp are all rookies plus any first-year players who do not have a season of pension credit. That's a technical way of saying any player who has not spent at least three games in a season on an NFL team's active, inactive or reserve lists. The  holdovers from last season taking part in this camp are center Samson Genus, receiver Diondre Borel, fullback Jon Hoese, safety Anthony Levine, cornerback Brandian Ross, receiver Tori Gurley and defensive lineman Johnny Jones. An eighth player, quarterback Nick Hill, has been with the team for offseason workouts before this camp. "I wanted to see that whole group, those eight guys, stand above everybody," coach Mike McCarthy said, "and I felt they did. They led the charge in the drills. Even Nick Hill being here through the first four of five weeks of the offseason program, you could see his demeanor, in charge, he knew the offense. Competed well. I was very pleased in all eight of the players that have been with us and participated today. I thought they clearly stood out."
