Woodson shows up for OTAs, stays indoors

Although Packers cornerback Charles Woodson didn’t practice on the field with the team today, coach Mike McCarthy said he is participating in the team’s organized team activity and simply worked out indoors.  McCarthy declined to discuss why individual players didn’t participate in on-field workouts. “These are voluntary practices,” McCarthy said.  Players took physicals yesterday, according to McCarthy, and medical issues kept some players on the sidelines, but he wouldn’t elaborate. Other highlights from McCarthy’s post-practice presser today: *M.D. Jennings (who practiced with the No. 1 unit in the absence of Charlie Peprah) displayed good range. “I like our young safeties,” McCarthy said.. * We want to get feel for all our young guys during these offseason workouts, he said. We’ll roll with as many different combinations as we can. We’re evaluating everything. * How many quarterbacks we take to training camp depends on other positions. It’s a moving target of personnel evaluation. It’s an outstanding opportunity for Graham Harrell at backup QB. The two young guys (B.J. Coleman and Nick Hill) are getting better. * This is the most experienced and talented team I've had a chance to coach. * He expects Donald Driver at practice next week. He’s excited to get back to Green Bay, according to McCarthy, who is looking for Driver to win Dancing With the Stars tonight. * First-round draft pick Nick Perry will be given opportunity to play early. We want to look at him on the left side. Like any young player, you want to have a starting point. * This is going to be an extremely competitive training camp. There’s heightened competition on the offensive line, like the rest of the team. * These offseason workouts don't give you a lot of information, particularly up front along the line. I do like our O-line group. We have a chance for depth.
