Agent: Driver has agreed to terms with Packers

Jordan Woy, the agent for receiver Donald Driver, told WTMJ-TV Milwaukee sports reporter Lance Allen Tuesday night that his client had agreed to restructure his contract with the Packers. "We have agreed to terms with the Packers but need to review it tomorrow to finalize," Woy told Allen in an email. It likely means Driver agreed to a pay cut, as he said he was willing to do, and will report for the Packers' organized team activities (OTA) this week. Earlier Tuesday night Driver sent out the following message on Twitter: "It is now true. Packer for life." Driver, 37, was originally scheduled to be paid about $5 million this season, including a $1.5 million bonus payable on the first day of training camp. It is believed the Packers†didn't want to commit so much guaranteed money for a† player Driver's age. Driver expressed an interest in returning for a 14th NFL season in Green Bay, and soon after last season ended†said he would be willing to take a pay cut. Driver became something of a national sensation when he won ABC's "Dancing†With The Stars" competition last week. There will be fierce competition at the receiver position this season in Green Bay. Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Randall Cobb are holdovers along with Driver. Plus, practice squad players Tori Gurley and Diondre Borel are expected to be given serious consideration for roster spots.† It's possible the Packers could keep six receivers on the roster this season, although in past years they have generally only kept five wideouts. In an interview with the Green Bay Press-Gazette earlier this month, Driver said: "My contract is not over with the Packers. I will be a Packer for life. I donít think thatís ever going to change." It's possible Driver could appear at the Packers' open OTA practice Wednesday at Nitschke Field at 11:30 a.m., assuming his†restructured deal is finalized.
