Packers minicamp practice: June 12, 2012

Seen and heard by our reporters at today's open Green Bay Packers practice at Ray Nitschke Field: -- It's a pleasant day for practice. The temperature is 66 with a mix of sun and clouds. It is breezy, though, with northwest winds at 18 mph gusting to 26 mph. -- Charles Woodson was indeed here and on the field. We didn't see him during OTAs. Now the question is where does he line up? CB or S? His first snap of team drills was in nickel and he played his usual spot vs. the slot WR. He did individual drills with the corners, not the safeties. He didn't take a single snap in the base defense. Woodson said he didn't play in the base today because he was easing back into on-field activities after sitting out the OTAs. "I havenít been out there with the team doing football things, so the easiest thing for me to do today was to get in at nickel," he said. -- LB Clay Matthews is not practicing again. He went the first week of OTAs and has been shut down ever since. -- Here's the DNP list: RB Alex Green, S Charlie Peprah, S Morgan Burnett, LB Clay Matthews, LB Frank Zombo, G Jaymes Brooks, DL Johnny Jones, DT Mike Daniels, T Derek Sherrod and TE Andrew Quarless. Burnett is a new DNP. Burnett said later that he had a quadriceps injury but that it wouldn't keep him out of training camp. -- S Anthony Levine is another player who practiced at OTAs but wasn't on the field at the start of today's practice. He came on the field later, but didn't have a helmet. -- With Peprah and Burnett out, the top two safeties were M.D. Jennings and Jerron McMillian. -- It looks like TE Jermichael Finley is practicing, at least on a limited basis. -- Dezman Moses gets the first crack at ROLB with the ones in the 2-minute drill. -- CB Tramon Williams intercepted QB Aaron Rodgers on an end zone fade/jump ball for WR Jordy Nelson. But in the 2-minute drill, it was Rodgers to Nelson on a fade over Williams for a 27-yard TD. -- Surprising to see Jarrett Bush working as the other starting CB in the base defense ahead of Sam Shields. -- QB Graham Harrell to TE Eric Lair for a 5-yard TD to end practice. Offense wins both 2-minute drills. -- This week's mandatory minicamp is today through Thursday. Today's practice is the only one that will be open to fans, but all three will be open to the media. The minicamp is the last major event before training camp opens July 26. Reported by Rob Demovsky and Pete Dougherty
