Packers minicamp practice: June 14, 2012

Seen and heard by our reporters at today’s open Green Bay Packers practice at Ray Nitschke Field: – Looks like Randall Cobb is a new add to the DNP list. He appeared to drop out of Tuesday's practice. – T.J. Lang isn't practicing today either. – Evan Dietrich-Smith is taking Lang's spot at LG. – Mason Crosby drills a 56 yard field goal in the game situation period. Even with wind at his back, it's impressive. Mike Vandermause says Crosby is in mid season form. – With Cobb out, Jordy Nelson, Tramon Williams, Diondre Borel and Shaky Smithson are getting the punt return work. – At least 400 fans, maybe more, in attendance at Packers practice today. – There was a noticeable emphasis on special teams today. Long period. – Offensive linemen plow through dummies to get to ball. Very entertaining. – Aaron Rodgers and Graham Harrell throw prettier passes (translation: tight spirals). Rookie B.J. Coleman a little wobbly. – Most fans are watching defensive drills. Mike Vandermause comments that fans must be worried about defense and want to monitor that unit's progress.. – There haven't been many team periods this practice. Lots of individual and group sessions. – It sure looks like Dezman Moses has moved up the Packers depth chart. He's working with the ones at ROLB. -- Mike Neal also is teaming with Jerel Worthy as the two DT in nickel. – Dezman Moses gets a sack in team drills. – Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman seem to be taking most of the QB snaps in current period of team drills. That's rare, according to Pete Dougherty. – A bit of fun at practice: Evan Dietrich-Smith has "Friday" on back of his jersey and Josh Sitton has "Sunday" on his. They play left and right of Jeff Saturday! – RB Marc Tyler lets pass in flat slip thru his hands. He needs to catch those if he wants to earn roster spot, says Mike Vandermause. – Tough catch by Diondre Borel at goal line with defender draped all over him. – A Rodgers to Jennings slant for TD on third play has Rodgers doing a little excessive celebrating. – No. 2 offense led by Graham Harrell stalls at 40 yard line in 2 minute drill. Fourth down pass not even close. – And the last minicamp practice is over after 2 hours and 4 minutes. Fans give hearty applause as players depart. You won't see them again until training camp begins July 26. Reported by Rob Demovsky, Mike Vandermause and Pete Dougherty
