Morning roundup: Will Packers run out of money?

Now that guard T.J. Lang has a new contract through the 2016 season, the Packers must look at a hefty list of  players that will need to be taken care of in the near future. The list includes Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, B.J. Raji and Greg Jennings. The Packers will have to back up the Brinks truck to the vault and fill it with cash. Rob Demovsky explores the Packers' looming contract negotiations. Let's just say negotiator Russ Ball has his work cut out for him. The situation prompted one NFL source to tell Demovsky: “They still have to do Jennings, the nose tackle, the outside linebacker and the quarterback. At some point, they’re going to run out of money.” Other highlights from our coverage of the Packers: *Pete Dougherty assesses the battle at safety between M.D. Jennings and rookie Jerron McMillian, with a potential starting job on the line. *Leading off Wes Hodkiewicz's Packers notebook, GM Ted Thompson had a conversation with newly signed running back Cedric Benson regarding his off-field troubles and feels satisfied Benson has moved on. “I don’t want to talk about Cedric’s private affairs other than to say we have had a conversation and I was comfortable with it,” Thompson said. “He understands that maybe he made some mistakes in the past and maybe he’s a little more mature and farther down the road in terms of developing in that regard. We felt comfortable after that.” The notebook also includes Lang's plans to buy his mother a house with some of the bonus money he received in his new contract. “She’s always been a hard worker,” Lang said. “I grew up in a family that never really had a lot of money. It’s just something for her. I’m so appreciative of her, that’s the best way I can show my appreciation for her." *In Rob Demovsky's Packers Insider, Tori Gurley receives a coveted Thumbs Up, while Graham Harrell gets the dreaded Thumbs Down based on Tuesday's practice. *Here's a recap of Tuesday's practice from our Packers reporting team. *Check out our photo gallery from Tuesday's practice. *Demovsky chatted with readers on Tuesday afternoon about all things Packers. Here is a full transcript. *Just in case you still didn't get your fill of Packers fixings, here's a Cedric Benson video from practice. There is no practice today as the team prepares for the Midwest Shrine game at Lambeau Field at 7 p.m. Thursday against the Cleveland Browns.
