Greg Jennings says his future "up in the air"

Packers receiver Greg Jennings appeared on ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike in the Morning” today and said his future in Green Bay is “kind of up in the air.”  Jennings’ contract expires after this season, and unless he agrees to a new deal before next March, he could become an unrestricted free agent. The Packers also have the option of slapping the franchise tag on Jennings in order to keep him.  “I definitely want to be here, but understanding the nature of the business, you never know,” Jennings said on the radio. “There is really nothing else I can really say or do. The ball is not in my court at all. I have to play the cards that I’m dealt. Right now it’s football. That’s my focus.” In the near future the Packers must address the prospect of new contracts for Jennings, Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews and B.J. Raji. When I recently asked Packers General Manager Ted Thompson if he could re-sign all four players, he replied: “Well that’s something (contract negotiator) Russ (Ball) and I are working on all the time. I’m not going to talk about any specifics or individuals but again our job is to identify those core players and do the best we can of trying to keep ’em as Green Bay Packers. How you do that, there’s no set pattern. But our philosophy is to try to do that in advance. We think it’s good policy. It’s a good thing for the player. We think it’s a good thing for the club.”
