Favre sounds less hostile toward Packers

Brett Favre sounds a lot less hostile toward the Packers theses days. ďEven though itís a shame the way things went down, as time goes by, itís kind of like a grudge, you just get over it,Ē the Packers ex-quarterback said in an ESPN podcast today. On the podcast, Monday Night Football host Mike Tirico asked Favre if he could see the day coming when he would return to Green Bay and ďhave his number retired and thereís a big group hug?Ē ďIím sure that dayís going to happen, but I havenít thought a lot of about it,Ē Favre said. ďThe Packers have had great success since I left, not surprised by that. Great group of talented players there led by Aaron (Rodgers), of course. That organization is really apart from the rest, maybe the Yankees I guess, just in tradition and history. Iím so thankful I was part of it. ďI know that day, how it will unfold, I have no idea when that will happen. I donít think their side is thinking about that. Theyíre trying to get back to the Super Bowl, and really Iíve got my plate full. I think thatís good for both sides, not that we donít need to shake hands and move on. I think in some ways that has happened, but I do see the day, itís going to happen. When? I have no idea.Ē It has been more than four years since Packers general manager Ted Thompson traded Favre to the New York Jets in August 2008 after Favre changed his mind about retirement. Favre hasnít played since 2010, his second of two seasons with the Vikings. ďI donít think itís as big a deal as people make it out to be because I think both sides have moved on,Ē Favre said. ďIíve got nothing but respect for that organization and the guys who play there. Thereís a lot of new faces there.Ē To listen to the podcast, click here.
