Rams forced to play third-string left tackle

Oct. 21, 2012

The St. Louis Rams will be forced to start a third-stringer at left tackle, which could have Packers linebacker Clay Matthews licking his chops today.

The Rams must trot out Joe Barksdale at left tackle in place of Wayne Hunter, who had replaced Rodger Saffold.

Since Matthews normally lines up on the right side against the opponent's left tackle, he could have a field day. The Rams will obviously give Barksdale plenty of help, which could free up the Packers' defense in other places.

The Rams' left side of the line is severely depleted. They are also missing regular starting left guard Quinn Ojinnaka. Shelley Smith will start in his place.

Here is the Rams' inactive list for today's game:

QB Austin Davis

WR Danny Amendola

RB Terrance Ganaway

LB Mario Haggan

DT Matt Conrath

T Wayne Hunter

T Rodger Saffold
