Jennings seeks second opinion on injury

Oct. 24, 2012

Greg Jennings’ groin injury hasn’t healed much — if at all — so the Packers receiver is seeking a second medical opinion.

Jennings has missed four of the last six games because of the injury he first sustained in the season opener against San Francisco. He sought the second opinion after the course of treatment that he’s been undergoing hasn’t allowed him to return.

“I just want him to figure out exactly what it is,” Packers receiver James Jones said. “You don’t want to come back on an injury or be out there running and testing on an injury, and you don’t exactly know what you have. So hopefully he can go out there and find out exactly what he has, and they’ll be able to treat it, and he’ll be back sooner rather than later.”

Earlier this week, coach Mike McCarthy said he hoped to be able to put Jennings through a workout on Thursday with the hope that he could practice on Friday and play Sunday against Jacksonville, but that’s almost certain to be out the window now.

“Greg Jennings is currently getting a second opinion,” McCarthy said. “So we’re still gathering information on Greg’s injury. That’s where we stand today.”
