Scouting report: Jaguars' special teams

Oct. 28, 2012

Here is Pete Dougherty's scouting report on the Jacksonville Jaguars' special teams:

Josh Scobee, a ninth-year pro, is becoming one of the league's best kickers and is 34-for-36 (94.4 percent) dating back to the start of last season, including 6-for-7 from 50 yards or more. Rookie punter Bryan Anger has a big-league leg and ranks No. 3 in net average (42.9 yards) and No. 5 in gross average (49.3 yards).

The Jaguars signed receiver Michael Spurlock three weeks ago to pick up their pedestrian return game -- he's returned two kickoffs and one punt for touchdowns in his six-year receiver. He's averaging 11.0 yards on four punt returns and 20.0 yards on two kickoff returns since joining them.
