Packers rank No. 21 in total offense

Oct. 30, 2012

The Packers have plummeted all the way to 21st in the league in offense after their lackluster 238-yard effort against Jacksonville on Sunday.

In Mike McCarthy’s six previous seasons as head coach the Packers have always finished in the top-10 in offensive yards. After averaging 405.1 yards per game last season and ranking No. 3 in the NFL, the Packers are averaging 344.6 yards per game this year.

The Packers are lagging in several offensive statistical categories at the halfway point of their season. They rank 21st in yards per play, 26th in rushing yards per game and 29th in sacks allowed per attempt.

Not all is doom and gloom on the offensive side of the ball, however. The Packers rank 2nd in red-zone percentage, 4th in interception rate, 6th in first downs per game and 10th in points per game.

On defense the Packers are inching closer to the top 10. They rank tied for 12th in points allowed and 13th in yards allowed.
