Scouting report: Cardinals rushing defense

Nov. 4, 2012

Arizona is 4-4 and still can be tough to beat because it has a top-10 defense. The Cardinals run the Packers-Steelers 3-4 zone-blitz scheme under coordinator Ray Horton, who was a Steelers assistant from 2004 to 2010. They rank No. 4 in points allowed, No. 6 in yards allowed and No. 21 in rushing yards allowed.

They have playmakers at all levels but are strongest on the line, where ends Darnell Dockett (6-4, 290) and Calais Campbell (6-8, 300) are a force against the run and pass.

Dan Williams (6-2, 327), a third-year pro out of Tennessee, is emerging as one of the better nose tackles in the game. Inside linebacker Daryl Washington, a second-round pick in 2010, is an ascending player with great speed for his position.

Safety Adrian Wilson doesn't run well anymore at age 33 but has a linebacker's size (6-3, 230) and still can be disruptive playing the run and blitzing when he lines up in the box.
