Suh again voted NFL's dirtiest player

Nov. 8, 2012

In their next game, the Green Bay Packers will be facing the player who for back-to-back seasons has finished first in a poll of NFL players as the league's dirtiest player.

Ndamukong Suh, the Detroit Lions defensive tackle, received 32 votes from 103 players surveyed by Sporting News (link: http://tinyurl.com/a8kzyjy)

Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito finished second with 19 votes, followed by St. Louis Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan (14 votes), Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison (six) and Tennessee Titans tackle David Stewart (three).

Last year, Suh topped the poll with 36 of 111 votes, followed by Harrison (nine), Finnegan (eight) and Atlanta Falcons guard Tyson Clabo (seven).

The survey is anonymous, and players can’t vote for teammates.

“Ndamukong Suh,” one player told Sporting News. “I mean, the step-on and the choke and the kick and the arm bar. Enough said, right?”

Said another player: “Suh. He hasn’t done anything crazy (this year). The type of hits he puts on quarterbacks, the way he finishes guys—some of them are legal, but a lot of them I’d say are over the top.”

Last year, Suh was ejected from the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Packers and later suspended for two more games for pushing guard Evan Dietrich-Smith’s head into the ground and stomping on his arm after a play in the third quarter.

The Packers have their bye this week and play at Detroit in their next game, Nov. 18. Dietrich Smith probably will be starting at guard in place of T.J. Lang, who will move to right tackle in the likely event injured Bryan Bulaga (hip) can't play.
