UWGB update: Following today's regular-season opener, the Phoenix plays only once more at home over the next 35 days while playing seven away games during that stretch. Its only other game at the Resch Center in that span is Nov. 24 against North Dakota State. ... Junior guard Kam Cerroni, who led the Horizon League in 3-point shooting last season (46.5 percent), enters the season having made at least one 3-pointer in 19 straight games. His last game without a 3 was Dec. 13, 2012 against Michigan Tech, but he did not attempt a 3 in that game. The last game in which he attempted a 3 but did not make one was Nov. 25, 2011 at Virginia, when he went 0-for-1.
Chicago State update: The Cougars return one starter, last year's leading scorer Jeremy Robinson (13.6 ppg), off last year's team that went 4-26. Chicago State was picked to finish last in the five-team Great West Conference, which does not have an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The league also includes Utah Valley State, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Texas-Pan American and Houston Baptist. ... Junior guard Quinton Pippen, who began his career at Missouri State, is the nephew of former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen. ... Dildy is no stranger to playing UWGB. Before taking the Chicago State job, he was an assistant at Illinois-Chicago, one of the Phoenix's Horizon League foes.
