Waupaca coach praises players following title game loss

With 29 seasons of experience as the face of the Waupaca program, John Koronkiewicz knew exactly what to tell his crestfallen players following their 42-7 WIAA Division 3 state final loss to Catholic Memorial at Camp Randall Stadium early Friday afternoon.

"We played as long as we could possibly play. And there aren't many schools in the state of Wisconsin that can say that," Koronkiewicz told his huddle. "There are only 14 schools that played either (Thursday) or (Friday). And we were one of those schools. It's a great accomplishment for any program, anywhere."
