Efforts are ramping up this week to defeat hunger and homelessness in Brown County, where nearly 5 percent of students are without a home.

And the problem is growing, said Andrea Pasqualucci, a member of the Brown County Homeless and Housing Coalition and an Ashwaubenon school social worker.

Last year, 1,217 students were identified as homeless in Brown County, she said. So far this year, 650 homeless students have been identified in the county, more than at this point last year. ...
