Executive's veto stands, but Brown County will find money for patrol car

Brown County sheriff's officials will be able to buy a sixth patrol car next year, but the money won't come out of the county's 2013 tax levy.

Instead, it will come from funds unspent during the current budget year.

Funding had been the only point of disagreement between Executive Troy Streckenbach and the County Board in a $253 million spending plan. Supervisors last week had added $26,000 to the budget to increase the number of cars to be bought from five to six, but Streckenbach votoed the addition, saying he had pledged to not increase the tax levy. ...
