The Brown County's Sheriff's Department says a woman died in a head-on crash Friday afternoon on Wisconsin 29 at the County U interchange.

An SUV was headed eastbound on 29 and crossed over the median at about 1 p.m. Friday, striking a westbound car in a second lane. The two occupants of the car were freed using the Jaws of Life.

The female passenger in the car was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, where she was pronounced dead. The female driver of the SUV and male driver of the car were taken to St. Vincent via ambulance.

The highway was shut down for an accident reconstruction team until 5 p.m.

The incident is still under investigation, and names are being withheld pending family notification.
