National retailers are getting a jump on the 2012 holiday shopping season this year, with a number of chains opening their doors Thanksgiving night.

Shopko, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Sears and other national retailers are among those starting Black Friday a few hours early. Gander Mountain will be open from 9 a.m. to midnight Thanksgiving day and and from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. on Black Friday.

Ashwaubenon-based Shopko announced last week it will start Black Friday hours at 9 p.m. Thursday at its full-line stores. Its smaller Hometown stores open at 5 a.m. Friday. ...
