'Nutcracker' ballet features young talent

An influx of youth combined with something old and something new are all part of The Dance Company's presentation of "The Nutcracker" ballet later this month.

The classic Christmas tale will feature 37 company dancers, including more younger performers than usual, said Tammy Petras, board president of the local nonprofit dance group.

"There's just this whole variety that can keep younger kids in the audience interested and it's fun for the young kids to perform," Petras said. ...
