6 OWI task forces to patrol Thanksgiving Eve

Officers from six drunken-driving task forces across the region will take to the streets the night before Thanksgiving.

Each deployment will last five hours, with a total of 40 to 50 officers from Brown, Manitowoc, Marinette, Outagamie, Sheboygan and Winnebago counties.

Alcohol consumption tends to increase during holiday festivities, which pick up starting Wednesday night. Michael Panosh, regional program manager for the State Patrol's Bureau of Transportation Safety, said that means more officers on the road may help prevent alcohol-related crashes. ...
